Santa's Winter Wonderland at SnowDome, Tamworth
We were kindly gifted a ticket to Santa’s Winter Wonderland at the SnowDome in Tamworth. An indoor snow, ice and leisure experience it really does offer a great day out for families. The complex itself offers, a 170 metre indoor slope covered in real snow all year round, as well as two nursery slopes where as a family we have previously enjoyed a snow play session. For older children and adults it provides the perfect facility for learning to ski and the centre does offer ski lessons. As well as skiing, visitors can also practice snowboarding and snow tubing which really does sound like lots of fun! In addition to the slopes there is lots to see and do at the SnowDome including ice skating, a climbing wall and swimming! To finish off a fun packed day there are a fantastic selection of bars and restaurants including a Starbucks Coffee and the Aspen Food Company restaurant overlooking the slopes.
Although we had visited the centre before as a family, when we were invited to the visit Santa’s Winter Wonderland (a separate paid for event) we were so excited! The event has been running for 15 years and offers a magical winter wonderland for families to explore. The ticket includes snow play in real snow along Santa’s Christmas snow trail, real animals, rides and lots of fun activities in Santa’s Christmas Village and the opportunity to watch Santa in his winter wonderland show.
We arrived just before our start time which was 10am, where we were greeted by really friendly staff. We went through a magical door where we were welcomed by one of Santas elves in a pre show. We then entered the Christmas snow trail where he had so much snow play fun for 30 minutes. Here the boys got to play on snow slides, and have loads of fun with the Christmas themed photo opportunities. The boys loved riding on the sledges together too. We then asked to take our seats in the theatre next door, where we watched a hilarious show based around ‘The Twelve days of Christmas” carol performed by Santa and his elves. The show was appealing to a variety of ages as we found it very funny, my youngest son was enchanted and my eldest son loved all the audience participation especially being able to floss with Santa!
The final part of this event is Santa’s Christmas village where we were mesmerised by the beautiful Christmas decorations. You can stay as long as you want here and we were in here for a good 45 minutes. The boys loved looking at all the animals including ducks, rabbits and lamas. They were also so excited to ride the children’s carousel and sneak a look at Santa’s house. The highlight for the boys was writing a letter to Santa and posting it in the talking post box! We just loved the whole experience and it has definitely put us in the Christmas spirit. Tickets can be purchased online at Snowdome.co.uk
